A: Wild Woollies has been called the Ferrari of "healthy" dog toys and treats, and we don't mind the comparison. Nothing about what we make, or how we make it, is ordinary. Everything we create is 100% organic, free of the toxic chemicals found in so much of what passes for "safe." Pricing reflects not only the incremental costs of obtaining the finest raw materials, but also the time required to handcraft each item down to the organic cotton thread, hand-dyed with the natural hues of madder root and turmeric—not from a chemical vat.
You're paying for what we refuse to automate, substitute, or adulterate.
True excellence takes time. Our toys, for example, require between two and five hours each to construct, not counting the days spent hand shearing, skirting (cleaning), and suinting (washing) the wool. It's not efficient, but deliberate: our products are breathed into being by the land itself—from the air and sun that move over it, the sheep that graze there, the flora that delivers color and its fiber that gives form. Real hands and honest intention carry that "living essence" through every step, passing on a life-giving energy that resonates deeply with your dog.

Q: Why do you recommend against using Wild Woollies as chew toys?
A: Because that's not what they're made for.
Wild Woollies are designed first and foremost as bonding and training tools. They are meant to create a mindful exchange between you and your dog—to get you both engaged, present, and having fun together. Bring out the Woolly, play, and when the session is over, put it away for next time.
There is another, more practical reason. Left alone with a toy, a dog faces a real choking hazard: foreign body ingestion is one of the most common reasons dogs end up in the emergency room, and choking is treated as one of the highest-priority calls an ER receives. There is no toy we know of that can withstand a destructive chewer.
Chewing itself is natural and important for a dog, and something Mother Nature already provides to adult dogs through real, raw organic bones or oxtails (always under your supervision). Chewing belongs in a different category than play.
There is also a behavioral reason we don't recommend treating toys as chew objects. We want our dogs to understand that toys have a purpose: they are invitations to play with us. If everything on the floor becomes fair game for chewing, it's not difficult to imagine what comes next—the bright squeaky squirrel today, your slippers tomorrow, eventually that antique kitchen table leg.
So why do owners do it anyway? Laziness. Lack of awareness. A toy that's cheap enough to sacrifice. A demanding dog that never gets worn out. Essentially, people hope a toy will entertain their dog because they don't have the time—or the inclination—to do it themselves, much like the modern practice of parking a child in front of a smartphone to keep them busy.

A: Caring for your Woolly is simple. From time to time, its natural materials will fray, and when they do, just trim the loose threads with a pair of scissors. That's all it needs.
When your Woolly needs a wash, use plain warm water on a gentle cycle—no soap, no bleach. The natural materials are best cared for simply, and anything stronger than water risks harming your dog. Dry it on low heat until no moisture remains, and it's ready to go.
Even after washing, your Woolly will still carry that earthy look. What it regains is its natural, fresh wool smell—a simple reminder that what you're holding is made from real, natural materials.

Q: Is there anything special I should know about owning a Woolly?
A: Woollies are great for the indoors and dry weather. Their soft, natural materials keep them from damaging your home and its furnishings. That same softness and distinctive design also make them satisfying to hold.
Since they are made by hand, no two Woollies are exactly alike. Every toy is its own unique creation.
They are not built to be thrown in a lake, pool, or used during wet weather. And like any toy, if your Woolly ever becomes damaged, don't let your dog swallow any part of it.

Q: How do I choose the right Woolly for my dog?
A: It's easy! Consider these four questions:

Q: Is a Woolly safe for a puppy?
A: Yes—with an important distinction.
Wild Woollies toys and treats are among the safest you'll find anywhere. But our toys are not chew toys, and teething puppies are serious chewers. Any Woolly toy given to a puppy should therefore be closely supervised and taken away if the puppy begins chewing on it.
For a puppy who is actively teething, we prefer something cold and edible. A small piece of food your puppy already eats and tolerates can be frozen and offered under supervision. The cold can provide welcome relief to sore gums while giving the puppy something appropriate to work on.
A Woolly can bring out the playful side of a puppy—the chasing, tugging, tossing, and interaction that make their early days so much fun. Teething is a different business. When those little gums are sore and a puppy needs something to work on, a simple frozen treat is a much better answer.
Q: How long should a Woolly last?
A: The short answer: it depends.
We're constantly testing our products, and some Woollies have survived a year or more of regular use. Others have met a very different fate when, despite our advice, they were left alone with a destructive chewer and destroyed in a single sitting.
How long yours lasts depends largely on how it's used. A Woolly that's brought out for supervised play and training, then put away when the session is over, should provide many months of healthy enjoyment.
Woollies are handmade, natural products—not indestructible objects. While we can't guarantee an exact lifespan, we can promise that with proper care and the kind of use they were designed for, a Woolly is made to last, and made to be loved, for a long time.
Q: Can I order a Woolly as a gift?
A: Half our orders are gifts. There's a reason for that.

Q: What's your return policy?
A: We want you to be happy with what you receive, and we stand behind the quality of everything we make. Because our products are handmade from natural materials, however, our return policies are a little different from those of a conventional manufacturer.
Our Woollies are designed as training and bonding tools—not as chew toys to be left with a dog unattended. Responsible ownership is part of using them as intended, and we can't guarantee a Woolly against chewing or damage caused by use outside its intended purpose.
Our creations are made from raw, unscoured, untreated, hand-suinted wool, along with natural hemp and cotton. The materials can vary naturally with the season, and the plant dyes we use for accent colors can produce subtle variations in tone. Handmade construction adds further individuality. These are not imperfections; they are part of what makes each piece unique.
For these reasons, we don't guarantee chewability or factory-like uniformity. Nature varies, and so do handmade products.
If you'd like to return a Woolly for any other reason, you may do so within 30 days, provided it is new and unused. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.
Dragées are different. They're made by hand, in small batches, using a slow, labor-intensive process. Each batch takes real time and care to create. We're not a large factory, and we can't absorb returns in the same way without either raising prices or compromising the quality and care that go into making them. For that reason, we don't accept returns on Dragées.
If your Dragées arrive damaged, we'll replace them right away.
And because we know not every dog shares the same taste, we're happy to send a tester-size sample for your dog to try. You pay only the shipping.
We make things differently on purpose. Natural materials vary, handcrafted work bears the marks of the hands that made it, and no two pieces are ever quite the same. That's not a flaw in what we make. It's the nature of making something by hand—and part of what makes it worth having.
